Description
Older adults comprise 50% of the people in housing programs for the homeless. As the senior population ages, the problem could grow much worse. Without a plan to reverse this trend, the nation is likely to see a growing population of homeless adults over the age of 50, an increase in related problems like drug abuse and mental illness; and higher incidence of chronic illness; and ER and hospital use. One answer to the problem is "service-rich" housing that efficiently meet the needs of seniors most at risk. This presentation will detail the extent of the problem, the potential solutions, and ways to bring components of this model to your organization or community.
