Joel Aronoff is passionate about building software and implementing effective solutions within healthcare organizations. He has 20+ years of experience working with clinicians, healthcare administrators/management, billing personnel, patients, and other members of the healthcare continuum to create a better system of care. Joel officially joined WellSky in July but had been consulting for WellSky since October 2019. Over the past 5+ years, Joel built a successful health IT consulting business where he worked for a variety of clients. Joel led the development of SMART on FHIR Clinical Decision Support and Documentation solutions for Elsevier and Hearst-MCG (Milliman Care Guidelines) that plug into Epic, Cerner, and Allscripts. He was the lead implementation consultant for a large EHR migration at a multi-facility OBGYN practice (converting from Greenway to AthenaHealth). Joel has also advised DaVita in areas of population health software and clinical workflows that aim at preventing patients from unexpectedly transitioning from chronic kidney disease to end stage renal disease. Previous to working as an HIT consultant, Joel spent 7 years at McKesson, where he started as an analyst and left as a Director in Solutions. Joel managed the meaningful use program ensuring that McKesson's Horizon EHRs met certification standards with a focus on clinical documentation and electronic clinical quality measures. Joel has strong background in building and implementing clinical terminologies to enable health information exchange and clinical decision support. Joel has a bachelor's in business from Indiana University with a concentration in computer information systems and a minor in biology. Joel went on to Vanderbilt University and was trained as an NLM fellow in biomedical informatics. He lives in the southeast suburbs of Denver with his wife, Rebecca, 12-year-old son Zander and 8-year-old daughter Mila.
