Suppliers of group 2 support surfaces are now subject to prior authorization under Medicare. In July, CMS will impose mandatory prior authorization in four states: California, Indiana, New Jersey, and North Carolina. But in October 2019, every Medicare supplier will have to secure an authorization before delivery as a condition of payment. Getting a favorable decision out of the gate is critical for expediting setups. Prior to the program’s national expansion, this session will explore the required documentation for favorable decisions and lessons learned from the first two months of program implementation.
