A bird in the hand: How using your own data can improve daily workflow and operations
John Ternent Tammy Wingo
Description
"In today’s world of ever evolving technology, data availability has multiplied to extensive proportions, and how we use that data is now the driving factor behind “survival of the fittest” for organizations, both large and small.  Deciding what data is most useful, and how to derive insights from the vast amounts of data can be overwhelming and confusing.
Leveraging data stored in EMR systems will be increasingly important for long-term care facilities under the new PDPM regulations, and it is becoming even more important in other areas such as Value-Based Purchasing (readmission rates), and Payroll- Based Journal (staffing).  This session will focus on introducing the concept of data analytics (how to start small), and demonstrating what kinds of insights can be extracted from the data in your EMR system. Also, how that data can be leveraged with simple analytical tools to enhance workflows, improve efficiencies, and gain deeper insight. The session will also highlight how advances in technology make these tools increasingly accessible and affordable to every provider, not just large chains."
