Conceived to meet the high standards of the dedicated golfer while capturing the magnificent beauty of the rolling, wooded terrain, Shadow Glen wraps itself around hills and bluffs as though it has always been here. By enhancing the movement of the land, the architects have sculptured a unique player's course with zoysia fairways, bluegrass roughs and impeccable Penncross bent grass greens. The traditional course design will challenge the finest golfer, yet was conceived in the spirit of sportsmanship to reward good shot-making for players of all abilities.
From the back tees, Shadow Glen plays to 7,051 yards, par 72. The course was designed by the unique team of Tom Watson, Tom Weiskopf, and Jay Morrish. The course, designed for the pleasure and enjoyment of golfers at various skill levels, the choice of four teeing areas allows the course to be challenged from varying distances. Shadow Glen was named Best New Private Course by Golf Digest in 1990, and included in the Golf Digest "America's Greatest 100" courses in 1995. Shadow Glen has been ranked in the Top 5 Courses in Kansas every year since it opened, it is currently ranked #3. In Golf Digest's March 2000 issue, Hole #13 was chosen as one of America's best 18 holes.
